Fees, Syllabus & Evaluation

The University of Pune decides the Fee Structure, Syllabuses and Evaluation Patterns and Procedure for each Course. The details can be seen on the University Website or in the IASE office. For MA English, there is Credit System and Semester Pattern. The overview of MA English Syllabus is as follows:

MA English Part One (Semester One & Two)

Paper 1.1 & 2.1: English Literature from 1550 to 1798

Paper 1.2 & 2.2: English Literature from 1798 to 2000

Paper 1.3 & 2.3: Contemporary Studies in English Language

Paper 1.4 & 2.4: Literary Criticism and Theory

 

MA English Part Two (Semester Three & Four) 

Core Papers (Compulsory)

Paper 3.1 & 4.1: Indian Writing in English

Optional Papers (Students can choose any three of the following)

Paper 3.2 & 4.2: English Language and Literature Teaching

Paper 3.3 & 4.3: Poetry in English

Paper 3.4 & 4.4: Drama in English

Paper 3.5 & 4.5: Linguistics and Stylistics

Paper 3.6 & 4.6: Semantics and Pragmatics

M Phil in English

M Phil Program is divided into two components, coursework and dissertation. After completing the coursework, the researcher needs to write a dissertation on a topic of her/his choice under the supervision of a research guide. The Coursework consists of three papers for 100 marks each as follows:

1. Paper 1: Research Methodology (Theory)

2. Paper 2: Preparing for Resaerch

3. Paper 3: Topic RelatedPractical/Contact sessions
